The US Department of Justice published yesterday documents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that describe interrogations from 2019 related to unconfirmed accusations by a woman against US President Donald Trump in the context of the Epstein affair, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
The woman stated in the interrogations that she was a victim of sexual assault by Trump in the 1980s, when she was still a minor.
In a message distributed on social networks, the US Department of Justice clarified that the summary reports of the FBI interrogations were initially removed from the published material in January, which involved the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein because they were deemed to be duplicates of other documents.
Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer accused the Trump administration last week of hiding many of the documents in the Epstein dossier, while warning the Justice Department not to destroy evidence in the case.
According to the documents released yesterday, the FBI conducted four interviews with the woman between July and October 2019, during Donald Trump's first term as president. In each interview, the woman, whose identity is being withheld, alleged that Epstein sexually harassed her.
In her second interview with federal investigators, she said that Epstein took her to New York and New Jersey, where she was introduced to Trump. She was between 13 and 15 years old at the time. According to the FBI report, the woman stated that Trump sexually assaulted her during the trip.
During a fourth interview, in October 2019, the woman refused to provide further details about her interactions with Trump.
The published documents show that the contacts between the unnamed woman and Trump were established in the early or mid-1980s. This is a period in which Trump and Epstein did not maintain a relationship.
Once close to Epstein, with whom they moved in the same circles, Trump has always claimed that he did not know about his criminal activities and cut off contact with him long before his problems with the justice system.
