Waves of Israeli, Iranian Strikes Continue - 1

In a statement on X, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the Israeli military has “launched a massive wave of attacks against the Iranian terrorist regime's infrastructure in the western part of the country“.

Meanwhile, the Iranian military said it had launched “powerful“ drone strikes against Israeli security centers and police headquarters since early Sunday morning, adding that it was continuing its “legitimate defense“ of the Iranian people.

As the Israeli military continues to strike targets in Iran and Lebanon, diplomatic moves are also being made – though perhaps more forward-looking than indicative of a quick end to the fighting.

Among the key figures on the Israeli side, as he has been for many years, is Ron Dermer, one of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's most trusted aides.

An Israeli source told CNN that Dermer had visited Saudi Arabia in the past two weeks, where he discussed, among other issues, Israel's campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, which escalated sharply this month, as well as possible future ceasefire agreements there. The visit, which took place after the start of the war with Iran, was first reported by Israel's Army Radio.

CNN previously reported that Netanyahu had chosen Dermer to lead any talks with Lebanon, but an Israeli official told CNN that this did not mean there were any concrete plans for direct talks at this time.

For its part, the Lebanese presidency, along with the government, is in the process of forming a delegation to negotiate with Israel, a source told CNN.
