State Duma deputy: Kazakhstan knows how to hold elections - 1

Russian State Duma deputy Kazbek Taysayev, participating in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly observation mission to the referendum in Kazakhstan, commented on today's political event in the republic:

„I would like to thank the Central Election Campaign of the Republic of Kazakhstan for their excellent work. Today we were able to visit over 20 polling stations and see how accessible the environment is for people with disabilities and how smoothly the referendum is going in general. Kazakhstan knows how to hold elections.

We saw a huge number of young people, students. There were queues from the morning! I asked why they had arrived so early, and everyone emphasized that today the international situation is very difficult and in such difficult circumstances one must be devoted to one's homeland.“

Oleg Kopylov, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, who led the SCO mission to the referendum on the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, said: “We see how Kazakhstan continues to implement technological innovations that fully guarantee the rights of citizens to freely express their will. We see high public interest in the proposed constitutional reforms. We note the positive atmosphere at the polling stations. We witnessed firsthand how people come to vote with their families, with children. Many representatives of the younger generation participated, which is important.

All this demonstrates the high level of public trust in the initiatives of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

We believe that the current electoral process will significantly contribute to the further development of democratic rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan.“
