The United States has again extended the deadline for the sale of Lukoil's assets - 1

The United States has extended the license for the sale of international assets of the sanctioned Russian company ''Lukoil'' until May 30, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department (OFAC) announced.

The previous deadline expired on May 1.

The license allows negotiations and the conclusion of conditional agreements with ''Lukoil'' for the sale of ''Lukoil International GmbH'', a company that owns its foreign assets.

Since Washington imposed sanctions on ''Lukoil'' in October 2025, OFAC has repeatedly extended the deadline for potential buyers.

Reuters previously wrote that such a decision may be related to negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war, in which ''Lukoil'' assets could become a bargaining chip.

We recall that at the end of October 2025, the United States, for the first time during the second term of US President Donald Trump, imposed new sanctions against Russia, in particular against ''Rosneft'' and ''Lukoil''.

This month, the US administration also extended a sanctions exemption that allows Russian company ''Lukoil'''s retail gas stations to operate outside of Russia until the end of October.
