Turkey today accused the United States of having a policy of double standards on human rights, saying that the annual a Washington report failed to reflect the Israeli strikes against Gaza, reports Reuters, quoted by BTA.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement that it was deeply concerned that the US report "does not adequately reflect the ongoing inhumane attacks in Gaza".
The report was prepared with "political motives, far from impartiality and objectivity,", the announcement states. The ministry calls on Washington to end its "policy of double standards on human rights".
It also mentions US ties to the Syrian Kurdish militia the People's Protection Forces (PDF), which Ankara considers a terrorist organization.
Israeli forces have killed more than 34,000 Palestinians in Gaza, the majority of them civilians and children, according to the Palestinian enclave's health authorities. The territory is devastated, and the lack of food creates fears of mass starvation, the agency notes.
Israel launched its campaign in response to an attack by the armed group "Hamas" on October 7 last year, in which Israel says 1,200 people were killed.
Turkey has repeatedly criticized Israel for its campaign in Gaza and called for a ceasefire. She also criticized Western countries for their "unconditional support" to Israel.
In its report, the US State Department stated that Israel's war against "Hamas" has a "significant negative effect" on the human rights situation in Israel.
On Monday, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken rejected suggestions that Washington has a double standard regarding Israel's human rights record.
