There are street skirmishes in Jabalia and Rafah

Israel continues the military campaign in the Gaza Strip, despite the expressed willingness to renew negotiations with "Hamas" to achieve a truce and the release of hostages, BNR reported.

According to the Palestinian Civil Defense Agency, 26 people, including many children, were killed in two Israeli attacks in Gaza City. In one case, a family home was affected, and in the other - a complex next to a mosque.

"Reuters" cited Palestinian health sources as saying more than 60 Palestinians were killed in airstrikes and ground fighting on Thursday.

Street skirmishes are taking place in Jabalia and Rafah. The units of "Hamas" and "Islamic Jihad" fired mortars at Israeli forces. Israeli tanks have already advanced into Rafah, almost reaching one of the neighborhoods in its western part, where most of the people are now gathered. According to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, more than 800,000 people have left the city since the Israeli army's attacks began earlier this month.

International pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is mounting after three European countries - Ireland, Norway and Spain - announced that they would recognize the Palestinian state on May 28. Israel described their decision as "an attempt to resurrect old, failed policies".

Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to address the US Congress soon, House Speaker Mike Johnson announced. The White House declined to comment on whether the invitation had been consulted with the presidential administration. Israel's actions in Gaza are the cause of increasing tension in the relationship between President Joe Biden and the Israeli prime minister.
