The proposal signed by Erdogan said that Turkey has been providing support with training, assistance and advice to Somalia for ten years to help restructure the country's defense and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The Turkish president noted that since 2009, the Turkish military has actively supported international efforts to combat piracy, armed robbery and maritime terrorism in the Gulf of Aden, the Arabian Sea and neighboring regions.
Erdogan made the proposal to parliament on July 19, a day after Turkey's energy ministry announced that Turkey would send an exploratory vessel off the coast of Somalia later this year to look for oil and gas as part of a hydrocarbon cooperation agreement. between two countries.
