Massive Aug. 26 Missile Attack Cost Russia $1.3 Billion - 1

On August 26, Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack on cities in Ukraine that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described as “one of the largest strikes“ on his side since the beginning of the war.

Forbes.ua estimated that Russia spent $1.3 billion on this attack alone, which used 127 missiles and 109 kamikaze drones. This is an absolute record for the entire time of the full-scale war that Russia started in February 2022.

Russia used more missiles on the first day of the war alone – in his invasion on February 24. Due to the type of missiles, however, it is possible that yesterday's strikes were more expensive than those used on February 24.

According to military analysts, the massive missile volley is Vladimir Putin's revenge for the invasion of the Ukrainian army in the Kursk region. Ukrainian forces effectively humiliated Putin after a foreign army invaded the Russian Federation for the first time since World War II.

The commander of the Air Force of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, announced that the country's armed forces shot down 102 of 127 missiles and 99 of a total of 109 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by Russia during yesterday's massive attack on the neighboring country.

Russia launched one of the largest strikes on Ukraine, using various missiles and about 100 Shahed drones, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said. He once again called on Western countries to lift the restrictions imposed on Kiev on the use of Western weapons. “There should be no restrictions on the range of weapons for Ukraine, as long as terrorists do not have such restrictions,”, Zelensky said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on Kiev's allies to agree to shoot down Russian missiles and drones over Ukrainian territory after Moscow launched a massive airstrike. "The Russian attacks have no justification. They must be categorically condemned and the international community must react with concrete actions," Kuleba wrote on the X social network.
