The representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War of Ukraine, Petro Yatsenko, confirmed the death of Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchina in Russian captivity, Ukrinform reported, quoted by dariknews.bg.

“Indeed, we have conducted an internal investigation and unfortunately this information has been confirmed. We knew Victoria. In 2022, she prepared materials at the Coordination Headquarters. That is why this is extremely sad news for us and for the entire Ukrainian journalism”, said the representative of the Coordination Headquarters.

Yatsenko noted that it is too early to talk about the circumstances surrounding her death, as the relevant work is currently underway to establish them.
“I think we will find out about these circumstances in any case. Also, if there are culprits, those who caused this death, they will be punished. Because there is no statute of limitations for such crimes, he said.

According to the representative of the Coordination Center, work is being done to release Victoria from captivity, and the fact that she was transferred from Taganrog to Moscow is a stage of preparation for her release.

“We try not to forget about all our servicemen, civilians and journalists who are in Russian captivity, and the work continues. Unfortunately, we didn't have time here“, Yatsenko added.

Viktoria Roshchina disappeared on August 3, 2023 while traveling in the territories occupied by Russia.

On July 27, 2023, she left Ukraine for Poland and was supposed to reach the occupied territories in eastern Ukraine (via Russia) in three days, notes Ukrinform.
