The US administration will announce next week whether Israeli authorities have complied with US requests for a significant increase in the volume of humanitarian aid that enters the Gaza Strip, the assistant to the US president for national security, Jake Sullivan, announced on the air of the television company CBS.
„What you saw from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was a letter to their Israeli counterparts that said: “Here is a set of steps that we expect from you, and we we will evaluate your progress in completing these steps." We will assess next week what progress they have made. And then Secretary Austin, Secretary Blinken, US President Joe Biden will make their judgments about what we're going to do in response, and I'm not going to get ahead of myself, he said.
Earlier, the Associated Press and the Financial Times reported record low humanitarian aid flows to the Gaza Strip, despite US calls for Israel not to prevented his transfer to the enclave. Last month, Blinken and Austin sent a letter to their Israeli counterparts demanding “concrete action within 30 days” to improve the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian enclave. Earlier, the media published the text of the letter, from which it follows that failure to comply with US demands could lead to consequences on the issue of providing military aid to Israel.
