Iran has proposed not to increase its stockpile of enriched uranium with a purity of up to 60% and has prepared to fulfill this commitment, according to a report of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which was sent to member countries, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Theoretically, the creation of an atomic bomb requires enriched uranium with a purity of about 90%.
During the visit that IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi made last week to the Islamic Republic, it was “discussed the possibility of Iran not increasing its stockpile of enriched U-234 uranium to 60% purity”, writes in the report. The text states that the IAEA has confirmed that Iran has “begun the implementation of preparatory measures”.
However, a senior diplomat said Iran's proposal would limit its stockpile to around 185kg and depended on Western powers abandoning a planned resolution against the Islamic Republic to be voted on this week at a meeting of the Governing Council of IAEA.
