Russia asked Trump to "formulate its conditions for Ukraine - 1

Moscow is ready to familiarize itself with the peace initiatives for Ukraine of US President-elect Donald Trump after he takes office, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, quoted by Reuters.

"When Trump becomes president and finally formulates his position on Ukrainian issues, we will, of course, study it", Lavrov said at a press conference dedicated to the results of the Russian diplomacy in 2024.

However, the Russian top diplomat welcomed Trump's readiness to start talking about the "reality on the ground" in Ukraine. According to Lavrov, this is evident in the statements of both the president-elect and his nominated national security adviser, Mike Walz.

On Sunday, Walz told ABC News that it was clear that the war must somehow be ended diplomatically. "I don't think it's realistic to say that we're going to drive every single Russian out of every inch of Ukrainian territory, even Crimea. President Trump has recognized this reality, and I think that with the recognition of this reality by the entire world, a great big step forward has been taken. Let's move forward now," Walz said.
