Ukrainian military expert Vladislav Seleznyov said that the scenario of deploying Western peacekeepers in Ukraine is unrealistic, Radio Ukraine reported.
The main problem is that in order to attract Western troops to resolve the war in Ukraine, you need to have a mandate - from the UN or NATO, and this is unrealistic, he explained.
“To receive a mandate from the UN, you need to get the consent of the Russian Federation, which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Unreal! The mandate under the NATO flag is also unrealistic, because NATO avoids any participation in the Russian-Ukrainian war“, Seleznyov said.
He stressed that it is important for the Ukrainian population to know the truth and not to create illusions. For the first time, French President Emmanuel Macron openly spoke out that NATO should send troops to Ukraine at some point, but his words met with fierce resistance within the Alliance. The United States and other countries strongly opposed this scenario.
Seleznyov also said that Russia is suffering heavy losses on the front, but still has the resources to continue its war. “The enemy still has a lot of resources and continues to put pressure on our forces in different areas of the front“, said the ZSU colonel.
He also revealed that the Joe Biden administration has provided weapons and military equipment on a fairly large scale in the last two months of its mandate (before Trump took office). “I believe that for the next six months we will certainly have enough material and technical resources to be effective on the battlefield“, said Seleznyov.
