The Austin Police Department in the US state of Texas announced the discovery of several explosive devices at a Tesla dealership owned by Elon Musk, ABC News reported.
Police said they found "suspicious devices" on the morning of March 24, and bomb disposal experts determined that they were "explosives" and defused them. No one was injured and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) subsequently announced the creation of a special task force to deal with incidents targeting Tesla. “Acts of violence, vandalism and domestic terrorism – such as the recent attacks on Tesla – will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,“ the bureau told the television station.
A law enforcement source told ABC that the agency had received reports of 48 attacks on Tesla dealerships, vehicles and charging stations.
On March 20, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced that the bureau was investigating the vandalism against Tesla. US President Donald Trump said he considered the attackers terrorists, but expressed confidence that his political opponents were behind the attacks.
