The White House has notified billionaire Jared Isaacman that it intends to withdraw his nomination to head NASA, The Washington Post reported, citing its sources.

At the end of April, the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation recommended that Isaacman be approved as head of the space agency.

As the publication writes, the final vote on his candidacy was expected to be held in the US Senate next week. However, sources told the newspaper that Isaacman was notified on Friday that his candidacy would be withdrawn.

In September 2024, the 42-year-old billionaire will participate in the first commercial space mission, Polaris Dawn.

During his flight as captain of the Crew Dragon spacecraft, he and engineer Sarah Gillis performed the first-ever spacewalk by non-professional astronauts.

Isaacman is partnering with Elon Musk's SpaceX.
