US President Donald Trump would be happy to communicate again with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, with whom he had contacts during his first presidential term, a White House spokeswoman said, quoted by Reuters.
"The president remains open to correspondence with Kim Jong-un", Caroline Levitt said at a press conference.
In addition, the White House spokeswoman noted that Trump and his team are reviewing the details of the trade agreement with China and that he has expressed satisfaction with what he has learned so far.
Earlier today, Trump said that the United States will receive magnets and rare earth elements from China under a new trade agreement, and that tariffs on Chinese goods would be 55 percent. The statement came hours after negotiators from both sides agreed to a common framework to restore the fragile trade truce.
Levitt said the US government had agreed to abide by the terms that were agreed upon earlier this month in Geneva by US and Chinese representatives.
