US President Donald Trump has threatened Iran with new strikes if it does not agree to end the conflict, Reuters reported.

The UN Security Council is not planning an emergency meeting in connection with the US strikes against Iran, a source from the world organization reported. "There are no changes to the Security Council's work program at this time", he said.

US House Speaker Mike Johnson said that Tehran has rejected Washington's proposals regarding Iran's nuclear program.

“The military operation in Iran should serve as a clear reminder to our adversaries and allies that under President Trump, actions do not match words“, Johnson wrote in X after the strikes on US on the territory of the Islamic Republic.

„The president gave Iran's leader every opportunity to make a deal, but Iran did not agree to nuclear disarmament agreements“.

According to Johnson, the US strikes were aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring “the deadliest weapon on the planet“.

„President Trump has been consistent and clear that he will not tolerate Iran having nuclear weapons“, the lawmaker added.

The United States does not plan to conduct a ground operation in Iran after the strikes on its nuclear facilities, said the head of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Jim Risch.

"President Trump took decisive action today to help Israel in its efforts to stop Iran's nuclear program. Only American weapons were able to do what was done. It made America, Israel and the world safer," the senator noted.

He stressed that there could be no talk of a protracted war. "This is not the beginning of an endless war. There will be no American soldiers in Iran," Risch said.
