NATO to forget about the drone war in Ukraine, but learn from the conflict between Israel and Iran - 1

The use of drones in the war in Ukraine is not the example from which NATO should learn, the new commander of the German Air Force, Holger Neumann, said today, quoted by DPA, BTA writes.

Neumann said in Berlin that the use of "the smallest of the small drones" in eastern Ukraine is an important tactical and operational factor, but it does not change the importance of the traditional capabilities of the air force in any way.

"I think more about the operation that we saw (in the conflict) between Israel and Iran. "It is rather the way NATO can use its air power: delivering decisive strikes deep into enemy territory and controlling the airspace," the German commander pointed out.

During the recent 12-day war with Iran, the Israeli air force destroyed or damaged Iranian air defense systems. This is a prerequisite for modern armies when they want to attack soldiers, weapons systems, warehouses and production facilities on enemy territory.

Germany and its NATO allies, which are trying to contain Russia, plan to develop and produce long-range weapons systems for this purpose.

Given the current level of threat, Neumann said that the military must be ready, mentioning the principle of "Fight tonight".

"If someone confronts you today or tomorrow, you can't say to them: "Please come in 2029 (when we will be ready)", the commander explained.

Neumann also drew attention to the growing threat to the security of satellite infrastructure in orbit, which is of fundamental importance to the armed forces and the economy.
