At least 15 people died last night in a bus accident in the Peruvian Andes, reported Agence France-Presse, citing information from local health services.
At this stage, there are reports of 30 injured. The victims were riding in a bus that fell into a ravine in the Peruvian region of Junin.
According to radio station Ere Pe Pe (RPP), there were more than 60 people on the bus. The flight went off a winding road and fell to a depth of 50 meters.
The course was from the capital Lima to Merced, AFP said.
The agency notes that road accidents in Peru are common, mainly due to speeding and reckless driving in general.
It is common for offenders to go unpunished, and the road network is in poor condition, with insufficient signage, AFP added.
