Freezing the war that Russia has been waging against Ukraine since 2022 currently seems unlikely, believes the commander of the "Kraken" unit with the call sign "Alpha". In an interview with RBC-Ukraine, he said that today the main task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) is to hold the territories and, where possible, regain what has been lost.

"Today I do not see any prerequisites for freezing. I see that everything is changing. We are concentrating on the battlefield and on successful results. It is important for us not to lose as much of our territory as possible. This is something we are working on right now. In some aspects, it is possible to return what is possible. I believe that we will be able to return what we have lost. And we must move towards this. This is our motivation in general for completing the tasks", he states.

According to him, Russia is concentrating its efforts on the regions that the Kremlin has officially declared as “its“ in the constitution – we are talking, in particular, about Kherson and Zaporizhia. However, despite large-scale attacks, Russia is not able to realize these plans.

According to the commander, the Russian troops intend to reach the Dnieper line, but these plans are unrealistic.

"They are suffering colossal losses. I can boldly say that today their losses in personnel are beyond colossal. I think time will tell. But we are taking all measures to prevent this from happening...“, emphasizes "Alpha“.

Assessing the situation in the areas where the unit is fighting, "Alpha“ notes that the main problem is not in the equipment or superiority in armament, but in the huge number of mobilized, which Russia does not spare. "The Russians use the equipment minimally, because it is a priority target for Ukrainian FPV drones. "The main war now is artillery and drones in the air", explains the military.

According to "Alpha“, Russia has adopted a number of tactical solutions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Ukraine, in particular the effective use of FPV drones, including with fiber-optic control. This creates difficulties for the advance of the infantry and complicates the actions of the defenders of the front.

"They have studied our experience well. They work with both digital and analog frequencies, their calculations are professional. This really creates difficulties for us“, the commander summarizes.
