Under heavy fire! Russia shoots down 112 Ukrainian drones, strikes ports, energy infrastructure in Ukraine - 1

Russia has shot down 112 Ukrainian drones in the past 24 hours and struck port infrastructure in Ukraine used for military purposes, the Russian Defense Ministry said today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

A Russian drone attack last night damaged four power facilities near the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa, leaving more than 29,000 customers without electricity this morning, the governor of the Odessa region said. The information was also confirmed by the Ukrainian private energy company DTEK.

The hardest hit was the port city of Chornomorsk, in the immediate vicinity of Odessa, where damage was caused to residential and administrative buildings, regional governor Oleg Kiper announced on "Telegram".

“Critical infrastructure is operating with generators“, Kiper said, adding that one person was injured as a result of the attack.

The Bulgarians in the Odessa region number over 150,000 people and are the third largest according to the latest official census in Ukraine. About 50-60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odessa itself. The largest Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolgrad, Izmail and Belgorod-Dniester regions.

Russian drones also attacked the northern Chernihiv region, damaging energy infrastructure and leaving 30,000 households without electricity, governor Vyacheslav Chaus said.

The Ukrainian military said Russia had attacked Ukraine with 142 drones overnight and that air defense forces had managed to shoot down 126 of them. The remaining drones, however, hit 10 targets. The Ukrainian armed forces did not provide details.
