US President Donald Trump acknowledged the possibility of a visit to Kazakhstan and said he had a “great conversation“ with the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“I can do it“, the US president replied when asked if he would visit Kazakhstan. “I had a great conversation with him“, Trump added, speaking of Tokayev. “Say hello to him. He's a good man“, the US leader emphasized to journalists on the South Lawn of the White House.
Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Serik Zhumangarin said earlier this month that the development of trade and economic relations with the United States is a priority in the republic's foreign policy. On August 1, Trump signed an executive order introducing tariffs of 15 to 41% for more than 60 countries and the European Union. For Kazakhstan, the tariff rate was set at 25%. Trump previously sent a letter to Tokayev, justifying this decision.
