Prime Minister Zhelyazkov: It is in our common interest to deepen bilateral economic cooperation between Bulgaria and Hungary

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov thanked the Hungarian side for its support for Schengen and noted Bulgaria's efforts to secure the EU's external border. Zhelyazkov also highlighted our cooperation with Turkey on the subject, as well as the reported significant drop in migration pressure.

Bulgaria and Hungary are developing excellent friendly relations, based on deep historical ties and traditions. Our common interest is to deepen bilateral economic cooperation, including in strategic areas such as investments, transport, innovations and high technologies. This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during his meeting with Hungarian President Tamas Sujok, the press center of the cabinet reported.

During the conversation in the Council of Ministers, Prime Minister Zhelyazkov welcomed the deepening of bilateral trade and economic relations with Hungary. According to the Prime Minister, it is crucial to use all the opportunities provided by the single European market. Zhelyazkov also specifically highlighted the targeted work of the cabinet on the introduction of the euro in Bulgaria, emphasizing the long-term benefits for the economy.

Zhelyazkov and Shuyok also discussed the partnership in the energy sector and topics in the field of regional security. The focus of their talks was also the challenges facing the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and the continent as a whole. The strategic importance of the European integration of the Western Balkans was emphasized. The war in Ukraine was also among the topics discussed. Prime Minister Zhelyazkov emphasized the importance of hosting a meeting between Trump and Putin. For us, it is most important that the war stops as quickly as possible on the basis of lasting and sustainable solutions, said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov.

President Tamas Sujok, for his part, also welcomed the bilateral cooperation between Bulgaria and Hungary. He highlighted the importance of our membership in the eurozone and expressed support for our country's accession to the OECD. Sujok emphasized the economic development of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. Regarding the war in Ukraine, he indicated that stopping it is of common interest to all.
