The Committee on Internal Security and Public Order in the parliament will hear today the candidate for the chairman of the National Security Agency. This is the acting head of the agency Denyo Denev, BNT reported.
At the beginning of the month, it became clear that the government was once again proposing to the parliament Denyo Denev to head the chairmanship of the National Security Agency. This came to pass after the government sent the president a request in September for coordination for Denev as chairman of the National Security Agency.
However, Rumen Radev refused to sign a decree on his appointment. Weeks later, the deputies adopted legislative changes that assign the power to appoint or dismiss the chairman of the agency to the parliament. However, the President vetoed the amendments to the SANS law.
In his reasons, the Head of State pointed out that under the current legal regime, the shared competence between the Head of State and the Government is a guarantee for an objective assessment of the experience and qualities of the candidates. At the end of October, the Parliament re-adopted the amendments to the SANS law and overrode the President's veto.
