The Ministry of Internal Affairs presented the new heads of three of its main directorates. These are the “National Police“, “Fight against Organized Crime“ and “Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Combating Terrorism“, it is clear from information on the ministry's website, quoted by dariknews.bg.

By order of the Minister of Internal Affairs Emil Dechev dated March 4, Chief Commissioner Emil Parmakov was temporarily reappointed as director of the General Directorate “National Police“. Until now, he held the position of deputy director of Directorate.

The Chief Commissioner Martin Zlatkov will head the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. He has over 25 years of experience in the field of countering cross-border organized crime and a long-standing career in the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. He has also worked in the National Security Agency and has participated in a number of international operations.

The post of Director of the Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Combating Terrorism will be taken by Chief Commissioner Petar Antiev, who was previously the Deputy Director of the Directorate. The two main units - the Gendarmerie and the SOBT - will be headed by Senior Commissioners Georgi Aleksiev and Dragomir Takov, respectively.

In introducing the new heads, Deputy Minister Anchev emphasized that the system faces important tasks and called on employees to work with professionalism and responsibility. Chief Commissioner Kandev noted that the entire staff of the Ministry of Interior is expected to to guarantee the conduct of fair and lawful elections.

The reshuffles come after the dismissal of the previous directors of the three directorates - Boyan Raev (GDBOP), Zahari Vaskov (“National Police“) and Nikolay Nikolov (“Gendarmerie, Special Operations and Combating Terrorism“).

Earlier, Interior Minister Emil Dechev explained that the goal of the changes is to appoint professionals with proven experience and trust in the system.
