About 80% of neuropsychiatric diseases in children are due to tick-borne diseases. This was stated by Prof. Georgi Popov, head of the infectious disease clinic.

He listed illnesses such as depression, autism, including bipolar disorders, as well as suicidal tendencies as being due to tick-borne diseases.

„Suicide is in fourth place among the causes of mortality among children,” said Prof. Popov.

In his words, there is an increase in cases of Lyme disease. “This is a cyclical disease that spreads in the spring-summer months and in September-October. This is due to the development of ticks. "Birds can bring Lyme disease," Prof. Popov added.
