The director of the Metropolitan Waste Treatment Enterprise (WTP) Nikolay Savov to resign immediately. This is what the municipal councilor from the Local Coalition group "BSP for Bulgaria" requested. Ivan Peshev, who is a member of the Standing Committee on Environmental Protection, Agriculture and Forestry. He, BSP expert Alyosha Dakov, the chairman and members of the commission from other political groups, without the representatives of PP-DB-SS, visited the plant near the village of Yana today.
"The meeting with Nikolay Savov was arranged a week ago and was scheduled for today at 10:30 a.m., explained Ivan Peshev. - With the colleagues from the commission and the experts, we decided to make this visit in connection with the hearing of Mr. Savov at the commission's meeting on May 7. Then the data presented by him gave rise to a number of questions in our country, which the commission sent in writing to the mayor Vasil Terziev and to his departmental deputy Nadezhda Bobcheva. The answers we received are not exhaustive and do not provide us with a complete picture of the state of the enterprise. That is why my colleagues from the other political groups in the commission decided to organize this meeting. However, during today's visit, we were denied access to the plant. Mr. Savov invited us to the chair where the workers eat. There he explained to us that he could not allow us into the factory and referred to some internal regulation that regulates visits by non-governmental organizations and school groups. That is, it equated the Permanent Commission for Environmental Protection, Agriculture and Forestry in SOS to a non-governmental organization. What happened today is an absolute precedent in the history of the municipal council. For me, this is scandalous self-management on the part of the director, for which he must bear the appropriate responsibility".
BSP's expert at the Commission for Environmental Protection, Agriculture and Forests, Alyosha Dakov, expressed serious concern about the reported data on the state of the capital's waste treatment plant. "Certainly, these data will have a very big impact on the amount of the household waste fee for the citizens of Sofia in 2025," he said. - It is completely inexplicable to me that the municipal councilors are not allowed to familiarize themselves on the spot with the actual condition of the facilities in the plant and its operating capacity. Even more scandalous is the reference to some visiting order that applies to non-governmental organizations and educational institutions. Such a thing has never happened before. I have been a municipal councilor in previous terms and have visited the plant many times without any attempt to prevent me. Apparently now there is something they are worried about and have to hide.
The municipal councilors from the Local Coalition group "BSP for Bulgaria" insist that at the next session of the SOS, which is scheduled for July 25, the mayor Vasil Terziev and his departmental deputy Nadezhda Bobcheva be heard in connection with the state of the SPTO and the refusal of its director Nikolay Savov to admit the representatives of the environmental protection commission, agriculture and forests on the territory of the enterprise. The Socialists want Mayor Terziev and his team to inform the municipal councilors of the plans of the Metropolitan Municipality in connection with the construction of the third phase of the garbage plant, namely the plant for the utilization of RDF fuel. In addition, the metropolitan mayor should inform the councilors of the measures he and his team will take to expand the capacity of the landfill on the territory in the "Sadinata" area. And last but not least - how will all the actions of the director of SPTO Nikolay Savov, appointed by Vasil Terziev, affect the formation of the household waste fee for 2025.
