Ekaterina Zaharieva: No one forces any country to send peacekeeping forces

The European Commissioner emphasized that Europe should strive to attract talents from all over the world

Europe is doing well in science and research, but is weak in the realization of products on the market. This was stated to bTV by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Start-ups, Research and Innovation.

She explained that the realization of the scientific product on the market, its reaching people, is the place where Europe lags far behind the US.

Zaharieva emphasized that another aspect in which Europe lags behind the US is private investment in artificial intelligence, but added that in terms of public investment, things are good.

The European Commissioner emphasized that Europe should strive to attract talents from all over the world. Currently, programs are being worked on to attract scientists from the United States, and Europe's advantage in this case is that it is predictable.

Ekaterina Zaharieva also commented on the topic of the war in Ukraine, emphasizing several times that it is important for European countries that this war ends well for Ukraine. Otherwise, she continued, this threatens the security of every country in the EU. She pointed out that Ukraine needs a lasting peace that is against guarantees, otherwise this will be the most losing position for Europe - if the conflict only freezes.

According to her, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov has a good position, and when asked whether the Bulgarian authorities have forgotten that there are 200,000 Bulgarians in Ukraine after the National Assembly's decision not to send peacekeeping forces, Zaharieva said that no one has forgotten this, but refused to comment on the parliament's decision.

No one is forcing any country to send peacekeeping forces, Zaharieva reassured.
