Municipal councilors from GERB-SDS have raised the alarm about violations in the garbage disposal in the capital. According to them, the waste from the bins is sent to the landfill without being processed. They also showed footage showing how the garbage from the garbage trucks is loaded onto excavators and dumped directly into the landfill cells.
The municipal councilors stated that the Sofia waste processing plant cannot cope with the quantities of garbage and compared the enterprise to a “black box“. “This is something extremely monstrous. When Sofia's waste reaches the plant, it must be processed, passed through the installations, through the conveyors. However, none of this happens. They are loaded with excavators onto trucks, onto trailers and go directly over the Sofia landfill outside the rules that are clearly spelled out in Bulgarian legislation, outside the rules that are clearly spelled out and that we must comply with in the European Union“, is categorical the municipal councilor from the GERB-SDF group Anton Hekimyan.
