The chairman of "Save Sofia" Boris Bonev made a specific proposal to the leader of GERB Boyko Borisov: instead of exercising on the backs of Sofia residents, who have been without public transport for the third day now due to the transport workers' protest, to submit to the National Assembly a bill by which the state would cover the costs of security for the Sofia metro. This will allow the Sofia Municipality to save nearly 30 million leva per year, which currently go to finance activities falling under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Interior.

„Instead of Boyko Borisov talking nonsense about the incompetent, I suggest that he do something actually useful for Sofia. From "Save Sofia" we have formulated a specific proposal – cosmetic but significant change in the Law on the Ministry of Interior, with which the state will take over the security of the strategic object - the metro. Thus, Sofia will save tens of millions, which can be redirected to public transport, where they are really needed, Bonev commented.

"Save Sofia" emphasizes that the metro system is a nationally significant infrastructure of strategic importance, and not a local object with a local character. Its security is the natural responsibility of the state, in particular the Ministry of Interior - not the Sofia Municipality and Sofia residents, who pay nearly 30 million leva for this activity every year.

"Since he is so concerned and able - to submit our proposal to the National Assembly today," Bonev added.
