Kuzman Iliev: We are not certain that we will enter the eurozone from January 1, 2026 with the current government

"It is in everyone's interest to support the cabinet, I said for how long - in view of the problems that will come from January 1, we should see all the parties that now support the government escape responsibility. Because no one wants to bear the damage from what will happen in Bulgaria after January 1, 2026," commented the leader of the "Bulgaria Can" party

We are not certain that we will enter the eurozone from January 1, 2026 with the current government, I suspect that they may "throw in the towel" and it is better for them for a caretaker cabinet to bear responsibility at the beginning.

This assumption was made to the Bulgarian National Radio by the economic analyst and leader of the "Bulgaria Can" party Kuzman Iliev.

In his words, "the whole hysteria in Europe right now is that the money is going to armaments":

"The BNB says that the banks may not give all these 15 billion leva into the system. ... What I hear is that in Europe there is less talk about investments in the pension system, in infrastructure, education or innovation, we all know that we need to rearm Europe, that's what the fund is for. And I will tell you that this new money will go to more government debt, which the banks will buy, and the banks will actually finance the militarization of our government, which they say is 5% of GDP NATO wants us to finance - double what it has been so far".
Iliev admitted that the state will continue to incur debts:

"This is the job of politicians - they incur debts and tell us that they have built us a new kindergarten, bought us a new plane. They are not interested in the long term. At the very least, we do not have much certainty that we will enter the eurozone from January 1, 2026 with the same cabinet that is now voting on all this, I even suspect that "they can throw in the towel, because what I say is known by people who make decisions".

Bulgaria is in the top 5 of the fastest debtors, he pointed out.
At the meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) on July 8, we will receive a "Yes" to enter the eurozone from January 1, 2026, predicted Iliev and expressed the opinion that the benefit for the eurozone from Bulgaria's entry is greater than for our country:

"The eurozone has long needed a surge of some life in it".
According to the leader of the "Bulgaria Can" party, the government of Rosen Zhelyazkov is "stable in its instability":

"It is in everyone's interest to support the cabinet, I said until when - in view of the problems that will come from January 1, we should see all the parties that now support the government escape responsibility. Because no one wants to bear the damage from what will happen in Bulgaria after January 1, 2026".
