Annual inflation for June is 4.4%

Among food products, the most significant price increases were for apples by 8.6%, citrus and tropical fruits by 7.1% and root vegetables by 6.9%

Inflation in Bulgaria accelerated in June 2025, with the annual price growth reaching 4.4% compared to the same month last year. Monthly inflation was 0.4% compared to May 2025, according to data from the National Statistical Institute.

The largest price increases were recorded in the groups "Entertainment and culture" by 2.8%, "Restaurants and hotels" by 1.3%, "Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products" by 0.8% and "Transport" by 0.7%.

A decrease in prices was registered in the groups "Clothing and Footwear" by 0.6%, "Communications" by 0.2% and "Miscellaneous Goods and Services" by 0.1%. The prices of goods and services in the group "Housing Furnishings" remained unchanged.

Inflation since the beginning of the year reached 2.4%, while the average annual inflation for the period July 2024 - June 2025 was 2.9%.

Among food products, the most expensive were apples by 8.6%, citrus and southern fruits by 7.1% and root vegetables by 6.9%. Mushrooms also increased significantly in price by 4.5% and mineral water by 3.8%.

On the other hand, the largest price decrease was recorded for cabbage by 23%, pepper by 17.9%, cucumbers by 15.8% and potatoes by 15.6%.

In services, the largest price increase was recorded for passenger transport by train by 19.9%, hotels in holiday centers by 12.5% and driving courses by 4.6%.

A price increase was also registered for health services - medical laboratories by 1.4%, medical services by 0.5% and dental services by 0.4%.

The accumulated inflation for the last three years reached 16.3%, and for the last five years - 39.5%. According to the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, annual inflation in June was 3.1%.

NSI data show a continuing trend of rising prices in Bulgaria, which directly affects the living standards of Bulgarian citizens.
