Four large fires are burning in the country, announced a briefing from the Operational Headquarters at the Ministry of Interior, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio. For the moment, there is no danger to the settlements. The four helicopters and two planes requested by the European Union will land in the afternoon at "Plovdiv" airport.
Firefighters from Turkey have been working near Lesovo since 08.00 in the morning. They have 3 water cannons and 2 fire trucks. A crisis situation arose in the territory of Lesovo last night, but evacuation of the population was not necessary. As in the territory of Blagoevgrad - Strumyani district, all villages near Lesovo have been secured and police teams are ready to evacuate the population if necessary, announced Zahari Vaskov - Director of the National Police Directorate.
"People from 3 affected villages have been evacuated in the territory of Tran. A total of about 40 buildings have burned there, about 20 people have been evacuated, who have been accommodated in a local hut and with relatives. I would like to appeal to citizens to strictly follow the instructions of the police and when evacuation is necessary, this is only in the protection of their lives and to absolutely follow the instructions of the police".
Near Lesovo yesterday, a beekeeper initially refused to leave the place where he was looking after his hives. Today, a man was detained in Sliven who set fire to lawns. Firefighters extinguished the fire before it reached forest areas, Zahari Vaskov also said.
According to Nikolay Nikolov, advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs, there are 4 serious fires at the moment.
The fire in Lesovo is large, it is developing in a southwesterly direction, there is no danger to the settlement. The area of the fire near Ilindentsi, Strumyani is also large. It is divided into several sections, and heavy engineering equipment is being used, Nikolay Nikolov also said and added:
"There is no immediate danger to the two villages. The fire in Tran is on a very large territory. It is developing on two fronts - the first front is already in Serbia. We have warned our colleagues there, 5 teams are working on their territory. The second front is developing south towards Miloslavtsi. The efforts of the firefighters are focused on creating fireproof strips with heavy engineering equipment in order to preserve the village. There is no immediate danger to the village. The fourth fire, which is quite recent, is in the village of Nikolovo, Ruse region. The colleagues managed to protect the school and several buildings in the center of the village".
The fire there has not yet been localized and is developing towards the nearby forest. There is no danger to the people in Nikolovo.
It is assumed that some of the fires are related to human activity. The four helicopters and two planes that will arrive, after analyzing the situation, will be directed where necessary, the headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also said.
