At the request of the mayors of the municipalities of Pleven and Dolna Mitropolia, the regional governor has declared a partial state of emergency in the Pleven region, BNT reports. The crisis situation that has arisen requires the activation of procedures for providing the necessary quantities of bottled spring water to hospitals, kindergartens, educational and social institutions. The school year in Pleven will begin in person, regardless of whether there is water in the city or not. The decision was made at today's joint meeting between the municipality, the local Education Inspectorate and school principals. Hydrophore systems will be built in schools, and children will be given bottled water.
Due to the strict water regime, parents are worried about how their children will go to school.
Petya Dobreva: "Because it is very difficult in a school, such as the second grade, without water. This is also a prerequisite for infections. Let's hope that the problem will be eliminated as soon as possible."
The Medical University has 3,500 students, most of them foreigners from 50 countries. It is incomprehensible for them to supply themselves with water in jugs and buckets.
Prof. Dobromir Dimitrov – Rector of the Medical University – Pleven: "It is incomprehensible, especially for European citizens, for Japanese, people from Italy, England, Germany. They have not encountered such a problem and the parents are worried. During the day they will have water in an equal way, as if there is no regime, but we have not managed to build hydrophore systems in all parts of the university, we will continue next year, most likely, because solving the problem in the short term is not so easy."
Starting tomorrow, teams from the Pleven municipality will visit all educational and social institutions to assess where there is the most urgent need for the installation of hydrophore systems. They will also rely on help from the state.
Elina Dimitrova, Deputy Mayor for Humanitarian Activities: “Currently, the Pleven municipality has expressed its desire to use drinking water for all these structures from the State Reserve."
The regional government in Ruse donated 25 tons of mineral water to the distressed citizens of Pleven.
