The legendary Bavarian concept for a classic two-seater open-top refuses to go down in history. Taking over immediately after the BMW Z4 assembly line stopped in May 2026, the Bovensiepen family breathed new life into the German icon. The new offspring of the family, which gave rise to the Alpina brand, which is now being purchased by the concern, is called the Bovensiepen Spider. Andreas Bovensiepen continues his independent path with a limited edition of just 99 units, representing the third chapter in the new history of the brand after the Zagato coupe and the 05 GT station wagon.
The visual identity of the roadster relies on classic proportions with a pulled front end, short overhangs and a seat position almost on the rear axle. The aesthetic adjustments are the work of the famous Frank Stevenson design studio. The engineering team has integrated a redesigned front splitter with characteristic protrusions, new ventilation openings behind the front fenders, modified sills, a pronounced rear diffuser and an enlarged spoiler. The intake tracts step onto the road via lightweight 20-inch forged wheels with low-profile Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.
The famous three-liter inline six-cylinder turbocharged unit undergoes a serious metamorphosis. Thanks to the redesigned intake manifold, the added Ram Air system, the enlarged filter and the optimized generation with reduced gas-dynamic resistance, the power jumps from the standard 340 for Europe to an impressive 435 horsepower, and the torque reaches 580 Nm. The transmission is an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, whose gears in sports mode are changed in a tenth of a second through the steering wheel paddles, as a manual transmission is not provided.
Acceleration from standstill to 100 km/h takes only 4.2 seconds. The maximum speed in the basic version is electronically limited to 260 km/h, but when choosing the optional Performance package, the threshold is shifted to 295 km/h. This high-speed kit adds a reinforced V-shaped strut in the lower part of the body and an aluminum rear differential cover with expanded cooling fins. The chassis relies on retuned shock absorbers and extended additional springs, and an upgraded system with four-piston calipers and perforated discs is responsible for braking.
The interior combines premium Vernasca leather and Alcantara, while the steering wheel is upholstered in finely processed Lavalina leather. The equipment includes extras such as steering wheel heating, keyless access and a Harman Kardon acoustic system, and the trunk volume is 281 liters. The atelier also offers a full personalization program with complete reupholstery and individual embroidery. The color palette is divided into 40 units in Sapphire Black, 25 in Sanremo Green, 20 in Skyscraper Grey, 9 in Thundernight and 5 in Frozen Grey II, with the option of a custom color.
Orders for the Bovensiepen Spider are officially open, and the first deliveries are planned for the end of the first quarter of 2027. The starting price for the German market is set at 115,500 euros including taxes. All these improvements make the model extremely attractive to collectors and enthusiasts looking for the last word in classic engineering.
