An unpleasant and rather dangerous defect has been found in Volkswagen ID4 electric cars produced between 2021 and 2023. It turns out that car doors can open themselves - even while driving.
These models are also officially offered in Bulgaria, but at the moment only the NHTSA association - the American road safety regulator - is alarmed about the problem, from where they say they have received a dozen complaints about this strange behavior of the doors.
In addition to this dangerous problem, ID4 owners have other complaints that include door handles that lock against the will of the driver and passengers. Sometimes you can't get in or out of the car.
The problem may affect about 50 thousand electric vehicles. So far there are no reports of casualties, but for VW this is in any case an unpleasant signal that must be resolved as soon as possible.
Experts remind that Wolfsburg should be especially careful with this American body, because we well remember that the spectacular “Dieselgate“ scandal, which affected the cars of the brand all over the world, started precisely from the United States.
