BYD sold a record number of electric and hybrid cars in the second quarter of this year, with the Chinese citing lower prices and new technologies as the basis of stimulus of users.
The information is from the Bloomberg agency, and according to it, the best-selling car brand in China managed to sell nearly one million cars during the above period, disproving the skeptics who criticized the brand for its slow start to the year.
Sales were mainly boosted by the company's decision to cut prices on most models earlier this year, sacrificing profitability. In terms of pure electric vehicles, the auto giant's quarterly sales of 426,000 units put it close to Tesla, which is still considered the world's largest seller of electric vehicles.
Tesla, which analysts forecast will sell 441,019 electric cars in the second quarter, is experiencing a decline in sales in key markets such as China and Europe.
