The next generation Toyota RAV4, which is scheduled to be released in 2025, is unlikely to undergo drastic changes. As Toyota's best-selling crossover, the company takes an evolutionary and cautious approach, prioritizing strategic improvements over radical changes.
In the US alone, the RAV4 accounted for nearly a quarter of Toyota's sales in the first half of 2024 with 248,295 units. 111,526 of these were hybrids and 17,074 were plug-in hybrids, accounting for 52 percent of sales. In Europe, this crossover is also selling extremely well.
„RAV4 is easy. We have other challenging segments in the market, but customers have clearly said what they want from the RAV4: size, equipment and power levels, technology. We could sell 500,000 of these cars a year if we could produce them, so we don't want to screw up that formula, “ said Cooper Ericksen, head of product planning at Toyota Motor.
According to the top manager, the company does not want to spoil the working formula of the popular crossover and plans only to improve the technological arsenal of the new product, as well as to slightly improve the level of emissions of gasoline engines of the crossover. Andrew Hilleland, head of automotive operations for Toyota Motor, said that over the past 10 years, the RAV4 has become the new Camry in terms of sales.
