We say goodbye to the cheapest Renault - 1

It has become clear that the extremely popular Renault Express will soon leave the market. Production of the commercial model at the Tangier (Morocco) plant was halted on July 7. This was learned by journalists from the Spanish website Motor.es.

"The pastry chef" Renault Express enjoyed extremely good demand. For the first half of 2024, its sales in Europe grew by 14.4% and reached 42,046 units. For comparison: 39,453 of the more expensive Renault Kangoo were sold.

The reason for abandoning this rather successful model is its non-compliance with the new European safety standards. New cars must be equipped with adaptive cruise control, automatic braking systems, lane keeping, sign recognition and driver fatigue monitoring.

And the Renault Express is built on the outdated B0 platform, which does not allow the installation of all these safety systems. A new generation is not yet planned, it is expected to be replaced at some point by a cargo version of the Dacia Jogger.

We will recall that the Renault Express was presented at the end of 2020, as a replacement for the Dacia Dokker. "The pastry chef" is equipped with a 1.2-liter turbo gasoline engine and a 1.5-liter turbo diesel. It is currently the cheapest Renault model on the European market.
