A 1993 Ford Mustang coupe was sold at a Mecum auction in the US. Interestingly, the amount paid for it was $181,500. This unremarkable sports car cost as much as a new Mercedes-Maybach GLS600.
Usually, Ford Mustangs from the 1990s are not very expensive because they are not highly valued by collectors. However, there are exceptions, just like this limited edition Supercharged Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R.
In 1993, only 107 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R coupes were produced, and at the time it was the fastest version of the model. The sports car was lightened by 200 kg, as the rear seats, air conditioning, and electric windows, audio system and part of the soundproofing.
The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R is equipped with the most powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine with 235 hp and a 5-speed manual gearbox. It can accelerate to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 225 km/h.
In addition, the car's suspension has been modified and new springs and shock absorbers have been installed. This Ford Mustang also gets a limited-slip differential, upgraded brakes, and 17-inch wheels.
This particular car is also expensive because it's a time capsule of sorts - with only 100 km on the clock. The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R is in excellent condition and looks like it just rolled off the assembly line.
