Cabbage at last year's price are the forecasts of the producers, who this year are complaining with more -weak harvest compared to the last one. The reason is the drought and little rainfall.
In Bansko is Mitko Baltov's farm. While his fellow citizens are en masse engaged in tourism, Baltov grows vegetables. His garden has cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes and beets. About the cabbage, the producer says that the year was hard: "It was without any rain these months and no matter how much we tried to rain them, the plant itself stopped growing. And there is some yield, but it is not what it should be".
Baltov sells all his production from home, Nova TV explains. Over the years, he has managed to gain the trust of the Banskalians, and mass cabbage in the resort is bought from him.
Currently, cabbage on the market ranges between 80 cents and 1 BGN per kilogram. There is no increase in price compared to last year, a decrease in price – too. The manufacturer Baltov states that the price suits him. In Bansko, people accept this rate and calculate – for 50 kilograms of sauerkraut, they will not spend more than 60 BGN.
