Britain and the European Union have reached an agreement to restart their relations, the Sky News television channel reported, citing its sources.
Britain has made concessions in the field of fisheries in order to achieve relief in the field of veterinary control of products. The deal is for 12 years and implies access for European fishermen to British territorial waters, with London's catch quotas not being reduced and Brussels' quotas not being increased.
The agreement has already been approved by EU ambassadors.
At the same time, the parties agreed to continue discussing the youth mobility scheme, in which the European Union is interested, and not to announce any agreement. According to the TV channel, this could be a success for London, which has resisted the idea of restoring simplified travel for EU citizens and easier visas for young people, which were interrupted after Brexit.
On Monday, the first summit between the UK and the European Union will be held at Lancaster House in the British capital. The EU will be represented at the event by European Council President Antonio Costa, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Head of the Diplomatic Service Kaia Kallas and European Commissioner for Trade Policy and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič.
