Georgi Harizanov: I see no signs that the vote of no confidence will pass - 1

I do not see any signs that the vote of no confidence will pass and the government will fall. The majority against early elections is solid. This was stated in the morning block of BNT by political commentator Georgi Harizanov.

He noted that such a legitimate instrument of the opposition, such as the vote of no confidence, has begun to wear out, given the fact that this is the fifth consecutive vote of no confidence against the cabinet of Rosen Zhelyazkov.

Regarding the case of the mayor of Varna, Blagomir Kotsev, Harizanov defined as a “judicial innovation“ the decision of the panel of judges, which was supposed to review his detention order, to recuse himself.

Blagomir Kotsev will now have to hope that the hearing of the measure will be assigned to judges who will not be bothered by the decision made. Blocking the hearing of a detention order in this way is extremely strange, Harizanov pointed out.

For her part, BNR journalist Silvia Velikova added that due to the judges' recusal, Kotsev will have to remain in custody for some time until a new panel of judges is selected to review his measure.

„The panel of judges that detained Kotsev would have been subjected to the same pressure if they had released him from custody. I think it is right to invest trust in the court, because it is the same; "He is the one who condemns and the one who justifies," Velikova commented.

In conclusion, both guests in the studio of the national television expressed the opinion that the country does not have the public energy for mass protests, as in previous years.

“We will not see the 2013 protest, and there will be elections when Peevski says so, not the public processes“, Velikova believes.
