The government is looking for a solution to the problem of repairing the “Toplofikatsiya” in the capital's “Druzhba” 2 district.
In the last 2 years, a large part of the repairs prescribed by the Ministry of Energy and part of the Investment Program of “Toplofikatsiya-Sofia” have not been carried out. This was stated by Energy Minister Zhecho Stankov for NOVA.
He has also sent a letter to the mayor of Sofia and the chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council regarding the repairs.
By order of Stankov, a team from the Ministry of Energy will monitor the repair activities from Monday. The goal is to accelerate on-site activities so that the repairs can be completed faster and consumers can have heating and hot water in the upcoming cold days.
Regarding possible sanctions against the company, the minister stated that there is a mechanism, but he does not see what impact they will have on the affected consumers.
„It is unacceptable to start repairs at this moment, when the heating season is approaching. What is the normal principle of operation of a district heating company? While the heating season is underway, all elements should be ordered and delivered so that these repair works can be completed from May 1 to October 1. It is not normal at the beginning of the heating season to start activities that concern over 120 buildings, tens of thousands of households, which will be left without hot water and heating. As Minister of Energy, I sent a letter yesterday to both the mayor and the chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council. I have also written a special order to my team, which will be on site next week to monitor all activities within a month or until the end of these repair works, so that they can be accelerated”, said Zhecho Stankov.
