The environmental inspection in Veliko Tarnovo has found damage worth nearly 5,500 leva, which was caused by bears. Mainly beehives in Gabrovo villages were destroyed.
In August alone, the environmental inspection in Veliko Tarnovo found three cases of damage caused by the protected predator based on reports submitted by farmers in the Gabrovo villages of Rainovtsi, Kravenik and Mlechevo. From the on-site inspections, it remains clear that only two of the affected owners will receive compensation, as the third does not have the necessary documents for registration with the Food Safety Agency.
Last year, the environmental inspection, which serves the Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo districts, paid 7 compensations for a total of 4,187 leva.
The total amount was much more serious in 2023. Then, the environmental inspection filed 20 cases of damage from a bear for 15,400 leva.
