The court rejected the requests for recusal in the case of Blagomir Kotsev. Lawyer Ina Lulcheva requested the recusal of two judges from the panel of the Sofia Court of Appeal, BNT reported.
The defense of Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev requested the withdrawal of judges Stefan Iliev (chairman of the panel) and Venelin Ivanov (second member).
With regard to judge Ivanov, Lulcheva motivated herself with the claim that he was a judge in the Specialized Appellate Criminal Court and was personally affected by the political decision of the PP-DB to close the specialized justice system. And with regard to Judge Iliev, Lulcheva claims that he was selected to the panel in violation of the legal requirements for random selection.
