I declare my readiness to assist in the return of Lyubomir Kirov to Bulgaria. This was stated by GERB leader Boyko Borisov, quoted by the GERB party on its official Facebook page, BNR reports.
According to Borisov, in order for this to be possible, Kirov must renounce his Ukrainian citizenship.
I am ready to personally contact President Zelensky to find the most favorable solution, Borisov added.
Earlier today, the presidential institution sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding information about a Bulgarian citizen forcibly detained in Ukraine.
From "Dondukov" 2 called on the ministry to clarify the case of the detention of Lyubomir Kirov in Odessa and his mobilization in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as for information on the actions taken by the ministry.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded that Lyubomir Kirov has dual citizenship and is subject to mobilization. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs maintains active communication with both Mr. Kirov's family and the competent Ukrainian institutions, the ministry added.
The Bulgarian side is closely monitoring the development of the case and is making every effort within its powers to protect his rights, the statement added.
