Ivan Ivanov: Pleven may exit the daily water regime by the New Year - 1

„The expectations are that Pleven will exit the daily water regime by the New Year. The quantities on the Cherni Osam main water supply have fallen from 110 l/sec to about 50 l/sec and are decreasing“. This was stated by the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov to bTV.

However, according to the Minister, the hours with water have been extended by 1-2 hours in the most difficult areas thanks to: zoning and replacement of the internal network; inclusion of new and restored boreholes/wells; resuscitation of a pumping station, “which no one remembered“, with an expectation of another ~50 l/sec.

Ivanov announced that at the beginning of the week he will present a full plan to the citizens on site.

He also commented on Breznik, explaining that the problem is local to the city and is related to manganese at low levels in the main source.

“From the actions taken by the municipality, based on projects that are allocated as funds by the MRDPW, the effect is already visible. Within a month, this water source, which pollutes the water with manganese, will be isolated due to the low levels, and additional water sources that have been developed will be replaced with the water pipes that we have built,“ explained Ivanov.

The minister defined the situation as a result of “wasted years without rehabilitation of the networks“ and lack of coordination.

Indicated as an emergency framework the amount of 3.7 billion leva for the most critical supply and distribution water pipes in the country.
