Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov arrived for the start of the Informal European Council meeting in Copenhagen. The Prime Minister was personally welcomed by his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen.
The heads of state and government of the European Union are expected to discuss the defense preparedness of the EU and Ukraine in the context of the increased incidents of violations of the airspace of some member states. The focus of the meeting will be on accelerating the delivery of weapons, joint acquisition of capabilities and support for the countries on the Eastern Flank, and ensuring effective political overview and coordination between the countries.
The leaders' discussion will also focus on continued and additional support for Ukraine to achieve a just and lasting peace. The focus is expected to be on the sustainable and predictable nature of European assistance to Ukraine, including support for the country's armed forces and continued pressure on Russia, including through the expansion of restrictive measures. Ukraine's progress on the path of European integration is also expected to be addressed during the meeting.
