The 10.3 million leva allocated to solve the water crisis in Pleven is "seed money". These funds are nothing – these are eight MP salaries for a year. Much more is needed. This was said for the program "Newsroom" on Radio "Focus" by economist Mika Zaikova.

In her words, with reasonable actions, part of the water crisis can be resolved.

"Let's review the state of the dams - it is deplorable. The state of the water supply infrastructure - too. Nothing has been done on the issue since the time of Bai Tosho. But there are some private small hydroelectric power plants, clustered like grapes along the dams, which produce electricity and sell it outside the country. From a producer and supplier to the entire Southeast Europe, Bulgaria has become an importer of electricity. Secondly - as far as I know, the waters of the Maritsa were also sold in advance to Greece. So this situation is caused by wrong decisions“, commented Zaikova.

According to her, urgent measures need to be taken.

"The problems of Budget 2025 are nothing compared to what needs to be solved in 2026“, Mika Zaikova is convinced.
